ClipSeal is a macOS menu bar app for extracting documents from P7M and S/MIME files locally. This policy describes app processing separately from visits to this website and support requests.

Local file processing
Documents are extracted locally on your Mac. Original files are not modified.
Document contents are not uploaded to a developer server for extraction.
Clipboard access
When clipboard watching is enabled, ClipSeal detects copied file references and supported attachments. It can read clipboard text to identify copied file paths.
You can turn off clipboard watching and use manual extraction instead.
Temporary files and cleanup
Extracted documents are stored as temporary working copies in the local cache.
Closing a tile, clearing the shelf, quitting the app normally and the next app launch are cleanup points. Cleanup does not guarantee secure deletion or immediate removal after a crash.
Copies you save or export by dragging remain at the destination you choose. Cache cleanup does not remove those copies.
Keychain access
Encrypted containers can be decrypted using matching private keys in the macOS Keychain.
Signature checks and network access
Apple’s Security framework checks signatures and certificates. During these checks, macOS may retrieve certificates or trust information over the network. These checks can involve external services, so use is not necessarily fully offline.
Analytics
No analytics SDKs were found in the app code reviewed to date. This finding describes the scope of that code review.
Advertising
No advertising SDKs were found in the app code reviewed to date.
Telemetry
No telemetry SDKs were found in the app code reviewed to date.
Updates and distribution
Direct download — available version
The existing direct-download version uses Sparkle and an update feed hosted on GitHub. Update checks connect to the feed host; downloading an update also involves network requests. The receiving services receive your IP address and technical request information.
Mac App Store — planned, not yet released
A permanently free Mac App Store version without in-app purchases or a subscription is planned but is not yet finished. The planned version will receive updates exclusively through the Mac App Store. This describes planned behavior, not a released Store build.
Website hosting and downloads
This website is delivered through Bunny Storage and Bunny CDN. Loading pages involves network requests to the hosting service, including your IP address and the requested resource. The website source does not include analytics scripts, advertising trackers or application cookies. Fonts and images are served with the website.
On product pages with a GitHub download button, your browser automatically requests the latest release information from GitHub’s API. GitHub receives your IP address and the technical request information. Following a release or download link also connects you to GitHub. These website requests are separate from the app’s update checks and document processing.
Support requests
If you email us, your message, sender address and any attachments you choose to include are provided to us for handling your request. This is separate from processing documents in the app. Only include information needed to explain your question; avoid sending confidential documents or private keys.
